Is it Art?

I am completely appalled at the notion of a dying dog as art! Animal cruelty yes, art no. The fact that people actually paid to watch a dog starve and dehydrate to death is unfathomable. Even worse was that food was in reach and no one did anything for the poor thing. To add insult to injury the artist has been requested to recreate the piece. Why? It's not art. It's abuse. A piece created just for shock value can't be art. Art has to be something beyond a shock value. It must mean something to the artist. All that Guillermo Vargas is doing is trying to make a statement. A statement that hurts a living creature in the process. If this was done to a human being no one would even contemplate this as art. The only way this could have been art is if Guillermo Vargas had done to himself.
