Art Experience 3

Earlier this week I saw the new film “Drive.” Drive is an action-packed drama that tells the tale of a lonely getaway driver / auto mechanic / stunt man, played by Ryan Gosling, who would do anything for the woman he loves, played by Carey Mulligan, even if it is at his own detriment. This movie was a lot different than anything I have ever seen before. The directing of Drive was, simply put, cool especially during the chase scenes; the director puts you in the passenger seat where you have the ultimate viewpoint. The action scenes were incredibly violent yet you felt the recipients of the acts that the character that Gosling played deserved what was coming to them. The soundtrack made you feel as though you were watching an 80’s movie and was really quite catchy. In addition the dialogue within the movie was very intriguing. Gosling played the epitome of “a man of few words,” whenever in a conversation he said very little and took a long time to respond. Personally my favorite part of the movie was how the plot developed. The film had a slow start and as it continued it kept you on the edge of your seat, as you had no clue as to what was going to happen next. In closing Drive is all you want in a movie and is definitely a must-see.
