Last week I saw the new Brad Pitt movie, “Moneyball.” Moneyball is about the Oakland Athletics’ general manager, played by Brad Pitt, who has reached a crossroads in his career and life. He has to find an answer to continue the success the team has had after losing three key players who led them deep in the Major League Baseball playoffs in the previous season or else his job and livelihood will be at stake. That answer comes in the guise of a revolutionary outlook on baseball called moneyball provided by a Yale post-grad, played by Jonah Hill. The Oakland Athletics struggle in the beginning using this new method, but eventually find success and then ultimately lose in the playoffs, which in the character played by Brad Pitt finds as failure if they do not “win the last game of the season” or the world series. The movie in my opinion was very bland and unenjoyable. It was one of the slowest movies and least exciting movies I have seen in a while; it felt like it lasted forever and that is never a good thing if you just want a movie to end. Sure, Brad Pitt and Jonah Hill do excellent acting jobs, but the plot just does not provide the viewer with any interest in the movie. The only sign of life seen in this film was when the won 20 games in a row, a Major League Baseball record, but still did not sway my opinion of the movie. I had high expectations for this movie as it was really hyped up; Brad Pitt went on a media frenzy trying to sell his new movie. In closing, I absolutely hate it when the previews are better than the movie and I do not recommend seeing this movie.
