Tonight I attended The Jacksonville Symphony’s second concert of the symphony. It consisted of a few Spanish works and a Tchaikovsky masterpiece.
The first piece on the concert was Huapango by Moncayo. It was quite an exciting piece and a nice way to start the concert. The piece very much reminded me of the type of music you might here walking through the Mexican area at EPCOT. I liked the piece.
The second piece was Concierto Andaluz for Four Guitars and Orchestra. The piece was performed by the Los Angeles Guitar Quartet and they did an excellent job. Their playing was very smooth and all around very flawless. They were very good.
After the intermission the JSO played Tchaikovsky’s 5th Symphony. It was spectacular. It was definitely my favorite piece of the concert. Maestro Fabio Mechetti did a wonderful job conducting the piece and the emotions he put into it were outstanding. Each movement was well crafted musically and very well played by the orchestra. Overall, the concert was very good.
